Ram mixing question

I have 2 sticks of ram. Both 512mb. One is DDR400 CL3 and the other is PC2 4200. Is it ok to mix these 2 types of ram? Will either stick disadvantage the other?

You cannot run both DDR and DDR2 on the same motherboard. They are different in the fact that one will not fit into the other's slot. DDR is a 184 pin stick whereas DDR2 is a 240 pin module.
