I bought the above upgrades about 6mo ago for about $400 total. It was a significant upgrade, buy inexpensive relatively.
The system has worked well for me so far. WoW, FFXI both played beautifully, as did Oblivion (which I found very disappointing btw). Anarchy Online (older MMO) played well except for some lag spikes which I think was server side since that games servers and graphics engine are ancient. Vanguard Beta was for the most part unplayable with the graphics up, which I'm hoping will become better after the servers stabalize in a few months. Now Neverwinter Nights 2 is performing rather slowly.
Since some games played great, and others awfully, I can't tell if it's my system that is to being outclassed by some of these games, or if these games just aren't programmed well.
Anyone have any suggestions on if they think my system is really that dated already to perform so poorly on games like Vanguard or Neverwinter Nights 2?
