power connectors for ATX

Ok so I have a question about my power supply.
In my motherboard manual, it says that I need to plug in both the 24-pin connector AND either an 8 or 4 pin connector; to my motherboard.
Is the 24 pin connector all I need?
If not I have to take out my fan because its blocking the 8/4 pin connector.

The 24 pin is for motherboard power. The 8 pin connecter is to power the CPU. You need both to get your computer to function. You're going to have to move around some wires.
