Pop ups

Hi everyone..............first time on the forum.................nice site

I have a problem............we are now being bombarded by pop ups...... everything from "smiles" to "debt" to "pornography" the question is how can I stop this and how can I find out how it started?

what web browser are you using ? if I.E is being used i would make shure all the updates are in place from windows update

if they are in place and your still getting popups , you could try the FIREFOX web browser , that has it's own popup blocker.

Thanks for that..............when you say browser we're using Internet explorer.............is that what you are refering to?

Don't use IE. Download Mozilla, it should help you out.

Hey Slab, Welcome to CF!
you can download adaware or spybot. both are pretty good. if you have windows SP2, it has a pretty nice firewall and security center, with a suprisingly good pop-up blocker.

yah, it's a free web browser, and just one reminder about this browser....

most every site uses flash in their web page, so you will need to download the flash player extention.

FIREFOX is a very good browser to eliminate those annoing pop-ups....if it's not included in the download....

just down load the pop-up blocker extention...it's just as easy to configure FIREFOX as it is with I.E.

where do you get the latest extensions available for firefox..like new versions of the flash plug in, java plug in ect.

GO to the FIREFOX site and scroll down the right side of the page to where it say's EXTENTIONS AND THEMES.
