Opteron144 or x2 3800/Opteron165?

okay, is it worth the $200+ to get dual core? i mean, cuz i dont really use any processor-intense programs. i dont even game much. and if i do, i dont need amazing graphics. i play the sims2, rollercoaster tycoon3, maybe COD2, a little bit of command and conquer.

Im sure you have heard the term future proof. I mean right now you really dont need it. Although in the near future, games and programs alike will start to take advantage of a second logical core.

cuz everybody says dual is better, get an x2. or something. and cuz its future proof. but then again, im using an athlon xp with current-day programs. so i guess a single core would do me fine. thanks for the help guys. its much appreciated.
