I have no idea how to build a computer, so my friend is building me one.

He gathered a list of things and this is what he showed me.

ASPIRE X-Alien Blue Aluminum Server Computer Case 420w Power Supply

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor

CHAINTECH VNF4/Ultra Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard

HITACHI Deskstar 80GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA II Hard Drive

CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DRR 400

Radeon X800XL 265MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card

are these ok?

Very good setup. That will get you great performance. That's about the same setup I am building right now. I am using that mobo, cpu, and similar case. But I am using a 6600GT instead of that X800XL, for budget reasons.

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT buy a ASPIRE PSU , like the one that comes with ur case. THEY ARE NOISY AS HELL i have one and i regret buying it.

It looks like a good build. What are you going to do for sound? Use the integrated sound? They are pretty good so you don't really need a separate sound card.

I have a aspire 500watt and i don't find it noisy. just don't crank it to full.

well yes you could do that, but when yuour playing games and such its better to know ur gettiong the cooling u need than to fry or overheat something

you could always turn your music up really loud to drown out the sound of your fans?
