nVidia gtx 590 performance vs gtx 580 sli

I read this article about Battlefield 3 and Ultra settings:

Battlefield 3 will need monster rig to run on ultra settings | PC Gamer

It says that you need 2 gtx 580s in SLI to run BF3 at ultra settings. In my computer, I have a gtx 590. I was wondering if 1 590 would be close enough in performance to 2 580s to be able to run BF3 on ultra.

Isn't it dependent upon what resolution your trying to run at. I think if your only running at 1920 x 1080 you'd be fine. Don't hold me to it. I'll have to do some research.

Like Kgury said, its dependent on your resolution. For something like 1680x1050, then a GTX 580 might be able to run it on Ultra just fine, but for 2560x1600, then you might need a beefier card.

According to these benches on Battlefield Bad Company 2 (which uses Frostbite 1.5 IIRC).

It seems 2 GTX 580 SLI outperforms a GTX 590. However, I kind of doubt you need 2 GTX 580 SLI to max it out when the actual game comes out. Right now, they are still in Beta testing, so there is a chance the game will be optimized better and won't need that high of specs for Ultra. Also, a twitter update said the recommended settings will allow you to play on high.
