Nvidia Drivers cause my computer to revert and become locked at low settings

First off, I have been trying to play Mass Effect all day. It hasn't been working so i decided I would update my comp drivers to see if that would fix the problem. Doing that only created another.

When I updated the drivers my computer reverted to the lowest possible resolution with 4bit of color and trying to change those settings resulted in an automatic revert to 4 bit color and the lowest possible resolution. Is there a guide or something I could read or some way to fix this?

I'm running an 8800 GTS 320mb, Windows Professional, 2gb of ram, and a dual core processor clocked at 2.8ghz.

Yes.

Did you remove the old drivers?

You did d/load the 32bit version, yes? (assuming 32bit XP)

Yes I uninstalled and driver cleaned and I got the right version of the drivers.

That's weird, it is the official nvidia driver from their site yes?

Have you removed and reinstalled it?

Does the same thing occur when you roll back to the old driver?
