i was planning on either getting a 512mb 7900gtx from nvidia or the 256mb x1800 from ati. which one would do better in games?

I personally go with NVidia the GTX is a grwat card from the right companies and it has double the memory and core clock on X1800XT i believe is 625mhz and memory is 1500mhz, the 7900GTX is 650+mhz core and 1600+mhz memory...now the Radeon X1900XTX is prolly more of the equivalent to a 7900GTX, Nvidia has digital vibrance too Makes stuff look ALOT better

Yeah, 7900 GTX would be a better choice. But it's always better to wait a bit longer, especially since you wont be able to play DX10 games when they come out.

When will DX10 cards even come out?
