hieveryone,I have this notebook that my friend wanted me to fix. it's been infected with lots of trojan horses.. I've intalled ad-aware on it and run it to remove the spywares. then scaned it with AVG afterwards.. Lots of trojan horses were removed. Now the problem is that the notebook won't shutdown, it will just stay on "windows is saving your settings" and stays on that forever. I have to manualy switch it for it turn off and restart. can anybody tell me what seems to be the problem? Its running on windowsXP/sp2. thanks

Do you have? East Asian Language support installed?

This can also happen if the Input Method Editor (IME) selected as your default input language.

Check both of these..

Check for updates, download and install the updates, remove the East Asian language pack if its installed, and check if IME is the default input..

Also, switch the welcome screen off, that can sometimes stop this happening.

Not sure why on the thread listings, it doesn't show that I've posted..

EDIT> Right, sorry, it does now that I made this third post, sorry about the triple post, if I could of helped it, I would..
