new build... xp question

I just ordered my parts tonight and hope to get them in by the end of the week. I did not order any operating system. However, I bought a premade computer from Dell that came with XP and reinstallation cds. Can I use these cds to install the XP opperating system on my new build?

no I attempted installing an os off Dell cd's and after i arrive in the windows and im ready to activate it acutaly knows its not installed on a dell system and it doesnt let me activate....

thats why del are crap, they are so stingy! you can get a os for cheap enough orr you coudl always go the other way jkkk

You cant use the dell disc, coz its set up specifically for dell computers, so ya will just end up with problems

Well, in theory, no, you can't use the Dell CD. Of course, it will work, but it's the activation. Okay, there's ways to get around it, if you want, and it will work, but it's a 50/50. To me, I wouldn't take the risk. Buy one.

Ouch that sucks. Glad I bought a gateway before. My XP activated just fine in my new build!
