Well I've decided that it's finally time to build a new computer. I am intending to build it as a high end gaming computer so keep that in mind. I need it to last me at least four years. This will be my second build. I have done a lot of research, but if you see any problems with compatability or anything like that please let me know.

Total price is just under 1700 usd.

I am going with a cheaper video card ATM because so many people are talking about directX10. I think I might as well wait before spending a lot of money on two video cards to run SLI. Also in the future I will be adding 2 more gigs of RAM as necessary. and if I have problems with heat I might as well add liquid cooling but I think that can wait.

Please let me know what you think!

Thanks,
Jake

Yeah, that is a NICE system there. OC the processor, it is really easy and you can probably get it to 2.8Ghz (stock cooling too!). At first glance, the graphics card didn't seem so great, but I understand your reasoning to wait to buy a better card(s), smart! Anyway, nice system!

nice looking build. if you wait a month though, you'll be able to get a 3800+X2 dualcore processor for the same price as that 3700+ san diego you have listed there.

Nice yeah, will last you a while, why not go for the 7800, or 7900*GTX* or, SLI two of the 7600's? In a couple of years, games will be out that you cant evan imagine..something to bare in mind..

I'm not going for a better vid card right now because I am going to wait for dX10 video cards to come out. When they do, I will buy two very high quality video cards and run them SLI. This current card is just to get me through untill they do come out.

I was reading a review on the hard drive and that person only gave a 3. He said that after he installed Windows, he only had 127GB of free space left. Don't worry about that. That is a flaw with Windows XP. It only can tolerate partitions of 131GB (or somewhere around there) or lower. Vista is going to have support for these larger drives once it comes out, if it doesn't already in the beta. Don't sweat that. Other than that, nice rig.

Only reason I don't want to do this is because from reading reviews on processors, a lot of people are saying that dualcore processors are not as good for gaming. I'm not positive about this, but someone told me that they had to shut off one of the cores for high end games to work. I don't want to go too complicated either but I'm still open to suggestions.

Thanks,
Jake

nice build and nice monitor. Your gona have fun with that setup :D. Oh By the way what are you going to do with the 7600gt when dx10 comes out :p i would be happy to accept it for a certain price :p

Getting SP2 sloves this problem. Afriend of mine has 1.6 TB on his XP system. I have 412 GIGs, you simply need to undeerstand you will only have 137 GIGs to start with, install all the stuf you need and the rest will be recongized.

The 137 or 127 barrier w/e is merely a OS blockage based on how the OS reads hardrives. SP2 fixes this.

Don't buy till July 24th.
