i have built 2 pc's now 1 for me with c2d and 2 Gb RAM etc
and anova with pentium D and 2Gb RAM

and im buildin my 3rd now but its for a friend now the whole time i have bin into computers i have very very rarely dealt with AMD systems

so im asking you for your appinion on certain processors,

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ v Intel Pentium D 915

AMD Anthlon 64 X2 3800+ link http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...9kdWN0X3NwZWNpZmljYXRpb25z&product_uid=119732

Intel Pentium D 915 Link http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/114196/rb/27213952939

i am gonna build the pc with a budget of £300 - £400 hence then Pentium D and not C2D so keepin in mind the budget for the rest of the parts and how good its gonna be im thinkin its gonne be roughly,

Processor : ??
RAM : 2GB pc5400
Graphics : 256Mb nvidia
Hardrive : 160Gb SATA

well u pretty much get the drift so wot processor your reckon ??

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Socket AM2 Dual Core OEM Processor

Vs

Intel Pentium D 915 (2.80GHz) Socket 775 FSB800 2x2MB Retail Boxed Processor

hmmm im gonna need more peoples opinion till i buy AMD,

is there much difference in building AMD and intel ? n e thing diff from intel i shud in general ?

Although the new intel dual core proccessors are really cool, Out of them two I'd definitly go for the AMD.

I would go for the AMD, ive just upgraded my processor today to a 4200+ and its running well.

ok looks like the AMD has 1 n e chance u can offer n e advice on my first AMD build ? is it exactly same as intel except mobo and processor ? ?? help i dont like change lol

go amd the pent d is real weak in any benchmark i have ever ever ever seen although they are pretty cheap

Yeah, it should be the same, just make sure everything's compatible.

Definitely go for the X2 3800+ though. I've got that processor in one of my computers, and it's great.
