need some help

Ok, I seem to be having a problem with my custom pc, its been working for 7-8 months now and, now when I try to boot up my pc, it does all the normal cmos and bios checks and then when it gets to the part where its going to start booting up windows xp, the part that says checking bios or something....OK(can get to the boot order or boot into safe mode parts) then my monitor doesnt get any more signal, I have used my linux live cd and it works fine, I can boot up fine with the live cd. any Ideas on what to do to fix this problem of mine

amd athlon xp 3200
DFI lanparty nfII ultra b
mushkin 1 gb valuram
samsung 160gb HDD
nvidia geforce 6600gt

I think its the hard drive but I wanted to check in here first, thanks

From safe mode select start then run and type it in just as you see it>>>
SFC /scannow

Have your xp cd in the drive. This will check for damaged or missing protected system files and replace them.
Post back and let us know how it came out.

thats the thing i cant get to the safe mode selection screen it gets to the screen right before it but thats it, but ill try your other method of using the windows cd.(I have alot of stuff on that drive that I dont want to lose)
