Need help choosing between laptops

I'm currently looking for a laptop that I can use while traveling. I have a gaming computer at my house so that's not a requirement of the laptop. I want to be able to watch movies, surf the net, Java and other processing tasks. I'm going to need at least 3gb of ram, 250gig HD and at least 1.8GHz processor. I only want to spend 700 or 800 at most on the laptop. I've found the following laptops below and would like to know which one is better. Any other suggestions are also welcomed.

id say the dell. core2duo should give you better battery life instead the turion on the hp. also the dell is pretty cheap. i just tried to build one of the same spec and it cost well over $699 (on the dell site)
