I recently disabled all the start up services using msconfig. There were like 15 something processes. Today when I ran msconfig again i only find 5 processes listed. Why?

Now my computer runs all the processes that i disabled yesterday. I can't redisable them because their not listed anymore.

Help anyone?

the best program to disable start up programs is ccleaner. it also gets rid of unneeded files and cleans your registry. they may have come back because the programs that start are set to start with windows and they may have put them back, and some may be windows services.

To truely disable services use services.msc instead of msconfig start up tab

Once you have identified a service as OK to disable right click it and select "stop"

Be careful what you disable, the Black Vipers site has good info on disabling unneeded services.

Cheers
