Mp3 troubleshooting

Hello everyone!

A friend of mine has a terrible track record of buying new MP3 players off ebay. 6 out of 6 has memory storage failure problems. She keeps giving them the benefit of the doubt ....it's just a lemon....and keeps buying them from different sellers. The cost of return postage makes returns unacceptable.

So I am going to try and block off bad clusters.

What my question is can someone recommend a free program that I can run on my computer that will scan the MP3 player memory and give me a visual of clusters that passed and failed in a read and write test similar to the old scandisk that came with windows 98 and give me the capability to block off bad clusters so that they cannot be written to.

I remember having done this before with the old 5 1/4 " flopply disks but I forgot the program I used.

Thanks Clayton
