microphone

ok you all probably get this allot but my mic isn't working. i just reformatted mt computer and now when i try playing css and such it wont work. when i speak right into it i can hear the bass of my voice. i turned everything with a microphone voluming thing up. when i turn on the microphone boost and stuff i just get allot of background noise. please help

You sure you've got the Microphone input configured for a microphone?

Some sound cards have options for the microphone input to also be a line in, etc, and would result in what you are getting.

Check your sound card settings.

i go to "speech" in the control panel and i click on audio input. i click on "use this audio input device (which is Soundmax digital audio) then i click on properties and click on audio input line. and i put it to microphone.
