Alright, i wanna know this.

I got 2 sticks of free ram lying around.

1 is a 512 mb of Geil pc3200.

2nd is 512 mb of Kingston pc2700.

I wanna know if i could use them together on one machine. Non-dual channel.

And i wanna know how the memory would work. Will it work at 2700 speeds? Woudl it work at all? Is 1 gig of pc 2700 better than 512 mb of pc3200.

yes it will work. The RAM will run at PC2700 speeds though. I think that 1gig of PC2700 is better than 512MB of PC3200. (not sure though) You might want to double check with somebody else.

yeah usually the higher the memory, but lower speed is better than having lower memory and higher speeds...

so people here agree that 1 gig of pc2700 is better than 512 of pc3200. Anybody here know if the 1 gig will show a noticeable increase in performance over the 512mb of pc3200.

yes there will be a noticable difference if you get 1 gig of PC 2700.

If i put 1 gig of the ram.

and den i take out 512 of the pc2700, the remaining 512 of pc3200 will come up as pc3200 again rite?
