lpt port in use

hi all, i have a windows xp home laptop running a diag program that uses the lpt port to interface with a car computer..


I have two seperate programs for the lpt port to use. when I use one and get done with it and exit it, and start the other program. it says the lpt port is still in use. and I have to reboot the machine.. is there a reset tool or anything i can use so i dont have to reboot.. or how can i reset the lpt port so i dont have to reboot?
