I was going to install linux onto a second hardrive. How would I do that? Would I put it as a slave and instal linux through windows? And once it is instaled how do I tell my comp to have me deicide whether I load linux or windows? I have phoenix bios if that helps

im pretty sure how this is done:

boot from the linux cd, and install it, and simply tell it to install on the harddrive you want. I beleive you have the harddrive with linux on it set to slave and it should work. Also a screen should popup during the boot-up asking you which operating system you want to use.

(I think thats right, you might want to wait to see if someone verifies that.)

That is what I thought would happen but I will let someone verify that. Also what would a good version for a computer literate person new to linux?

one thing to be aware of is that when you do that, although it is on another harddrive, it still modifies the C drive, and sometimes it will cause some problems in windows, for example I have that setup, and from time to time, explorer.exe crashes without reason, but nothing serious I don't think.

I tried mandrake linux, but thats pretty simple and user friendly.

read that- it will help you decide on a distro
