Laptop upgrades advice please? - Dell Latitude D505

Okay i am able to get a Dell Latitude D505 for cheap. It is a few years old and obviously runs slow! I am decent on computers dealing with software aspects but hopeless with the hardware side of things since i have never really had anything to do with it (like built my own computer etc.)

I was wondering whether anybody could assist me on how to upgrade it so it runs smoother. It currently only has 512mb RAM. I have been searching about and found that it is capable of 2Gb of RAM could somebody help me find where i could buy this? and how to install it?

Also, it only has a 20GB hard drive which i would like to upgrade, any recomendations on where to buy a bigger one?

It has a problem as well, it will only stay on when the charger is on, i presume this is due to the batter so could someone link me to one of them as well that is reasonably cheap!

Also, i would appreciate anything else you think i should upgrade on it? if there is anything!

It's a great laptop...when it works. As you said it's now quite old.
RAM.
Hard Drive
Battery
Quite expensive.
You may be better going on Ebay and searching for these Laptops.
