laptop,can anyone help?

i have a Eisystem 4411 laptop, it keeps cutting out on me half way through the startup something seems to click underneath then the screen goes blank,this has started since i used the laptop on carpet instead of a hard surface as i would normally do.expensive mistake?

Well you could have shorted it but it really is unlikely.
A coincidence would be more to my choosing. Check the memory sticks and see if they came loose.
If that isn't it...reboot it and toggle the F8 key and see if it will allow you to get in to the start-up page and select to "start in last good known configuration " Keep us posted.
