Laptop backlight

I have a Dell Inspiron 8100 with Windows XP.

I was wondering if there was a way to turn off, or dim, my laptop's backlight... It's way too bright, hurts my eyes, and probably uses more power than necessary.

If there isn't, thank-you for responding anyway. If there is, please let me know.

Thanks, Ben. :)

Edit:

Computer Details:

Windows Version etc.: XP Professional version 2002 service pack 2
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) III Mobile CPU 866 MHz
Memory: 863 MHz, 512 MB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 2 Go IRQ: 9 BIOS: 3.11.01.44.B4 TV Encoder Type: Chrontel 7007 Bus: AGP 4X Memory: 16MB DirectX 9.0 or better

I figure that's all that applies to my question. :)

Hold downt the blue Fn key, to the left of the space bar inbetween the ctrl and windows key. And press it down, then press the arrow down serveral times.

Yeah... I've done that, but it's still very bright. Is there another way?
