labtop monitor help

i have a toshiba labtop and i wanted to plug it into my 21in monitor. i plugged it in and when it loads up fun and when it gets to the windows part it switches bak to the normal labtop screen. so i would i configure it to use the monitor? i would prefer to use both but if thats not possible i would like to use the monitor.

Use the display settings to get it on both monitors.

If you go into the Video Card settings by right clicking Desktop, going to Properties, then go to Settings tab , and Advanced, you might be able to access a tab, maybe called Monitors, where you'll be able to switch.

ok i got it thanks guys. and also is there such thing as an external video card like one u plug in where the ethernet card goes? if there is anyone know any good ones and where i could purchase one?
