hey there,

so i have win7 ULTIMATE AIO 64bit and would like to install it on a HDD that i partitioned today. the thing is that i don't have a cd-burner and would like to do it with a usb key.....but how can i do that???

i've taken the .iso file and extracted it.
i know i can set the first boot device in bios to a USB port.
but just copying the files onto the USB does not work :(

anyone done this yet????

I couldn't get it to boot correctly, even with Boot from USB enabled. What I did, was I booted into xp, opened the Windows 7 installer, and told it to do a clean install.

I swear I answered a post about this same thing yesterday..

Google is your friend, my friend.

Make sure you have a 4GB or larger thumb drive.

Go to: http://www.bay-wolf.com/usbmemstick.htm

Download the Windows98 files-

Format thumb drive, using HP USB Drive Utility

Copy Windows 98 files and Windows 7 to the thumb drive.

Boot up and direct your computer to the USB..try to get the stick in your "USB_1" slot

Good Luck!

There is a much easier way that works beautifully. I have used this method successfully dozens of times. Check this out. Also works for Vista, 2008 and 2008 R2. Incredibly easy...
