Need help replacing my Maxtor 6Y080L0 ATA-133...

It's been making weird noises. I've had it for about 5 years now. I think it's time to upgrade but everywhere I look there are no more ata 133's anymore. It's only ata 100 or 150 or 300 or SATA etc. etc.

It's a 40 pin connection. Is an ata 150 compatable with my computer?

Thanks.

1: time to change the drive is a yes.

2: Well, ATA 133 drives are still alive. Look at Newegg for Diamond max 9 and ATA. All of these are ATA-133 or SATA-150.

3: SATA 150 and 300 is the only speeds. ATA-150 doesn't exist.

4: specs?

That's what I meant, SATA 150. Is that compatable with my comp? I can't remember what my mobo is and don't know how to find out what it is. I built the computer myself in late 2001 but that was eons ago it seems.

Like I said before, it's a 40 pin connection.

Knowing the fact that it was built in 2001 will take out the SATA compability.

Anything ATA 66/100/133 will do.

SATA is something completely different than pins. It's not even pins.
