Help with Vista

I just install Windows Vista on my pc,but I didnt back up all the files I previously had on it. Now, I have important files on the drive which I cant open due to reasons I dont know about. I would appreciate any kind of help in this matter as to restore all the files and programs which Vista blocks.

Hmm, If I remember, you need to take ownership of the files. I don't remembber how though, but someone else might help me fill the holes.

In the experiance i've had with vista, your able to just right click it and somewhere in properties take ownership. I know it works in atleast home premium (did it just to night as a matter of fact), not sure about home basic.
