Help with USB ports / driver removal

Hey guys im not too good at these laptops so anyway i need a bit of help.
My dad has given me this laptop as a gift. before i got it of him he was using a DSE wireless thingy that had keyboard and mouse ports on it. i assume when he installed the drivers for that it disabled the usb ports on this laptop, i have been trying for days to uninstall the drivers and enable my usb ports so i can use a usb mouse with no luck, so help would be nice.
