Can anyone guide me through programming my autoexec.bat file?

Right now I'm just trying to find it. I did a search for 'autoexec.bat' and it didn't turn up anything. Is it named something different in WinXP Pro/Home? Is it hidden?

Is there some other file I should be programming instead (I'm just trying to manage the programs that start running on Windows startup. I think that's autoexec.bat, right?).

Thanks for any help.

Well maybe back in 1985 this would have been the route to go.

To start/stop windows services, go to Start -> Run -> and type msconfig

Click the startup tab and select which programs you want to prevent from starting.

autoexec.bat is a hidden file in the root of the C drive.

you'll need to adjust your preferences to view hidden files.
