Help please!

So my dad has this laptop, which has been working fine for quite some time. Last night the screen doesn't turn on anymore. The laptop powers on, but the screen stays black. 1 thing I found interesting was that the caps lock light was blinking over and ovver and over until u'd turn the laptop off. Now he just bought himself a new laptop already, and i'd like too keep this, so any ideas on what the problem is and how to fix it?

I tried, I cant get to the motherboard its self, no matter how many screws I take out..

Sounds like the CCFL back light inverter has gone out. They usually hide that inside the screen bezel.
