Help with backing up

Can anyone help at all. I have been using CDR and CDRW's to back up all mine and my families files but end up using loads of disks. I purchased some blank DVD's to see if I could back up onto them. I am using Nero6 and just a CD Writer. Is it possible as when I try it just says no disk in drive. Any help would be appreciated.

no, you need a DVD writter in order to write to DVDs.
the track width of a DVD is almost 4 times norrower than a CD.

Lol; yeah. A DVD Writer would be a great idea though if you want to backup - it is so useful and after a while you probably won't use CDs ever again.
