HD affecting PSU

I am looking to build a small media box, nothing fancy just something for storage.

I'll be throwing in 4 HD's total (eventually)

Just wondering how much HD's usually suck off the PSU..so would I need a little beefier PSU with all those HD's?

As far as the other components it's going to be minimal, onboard GFx or a very cheap card, a beefy sound card as I'll stream all my music through it. A single Disc drive and that's about it.

My experience is that they use anywhere from 20-30 watts of power (depending on the HD).

I added 4 HDs to this PSU calculator and it shot the wattage up by around 100 watts. So I'd get a nicer PSU but you don't need to go all out.

A 400-450 watt PSU would be fine for that. Graphics cards draw more power than anything, so with only onboard graphics you don't need a ton of watts.

Was considering just using a stock PSU from a cheapie case...but then I thought about protecting my investments bla bla bla..

Couldn't figure the PSU included in a $20 case could be that dependable.
