Harddrive casing

Well for christmas i got a disk drive and casing for it (carnt put it in computer cus its a laptop). I think i put the drive correctly in the casing unit... All leads connected... When i connect to my laptop it says found new hardware, Then it says a problem occured during installing... I am running windows xp too.. Can anyone help?

I got one too, and it did the same thing. Make sure the drive jumper is set to master.

Do i take the white thing out for master?

It should tell you somewhere on the drive. Either on the lable, or sometimes it has like a little MA for master(use the 2 pins it's under for master) S for slave.

you may have to contact your HD manufacturer to get a diagramn or just check around on there website if its not on the label.
