Hard Drive Problems

i am currently having a problem with one of my hard drives, i have three, but i only have 2 of them in there and one is just mainly a back up. so anyways, the problem is that somehow, my hard drive shuts down. but before it does, i hear this one noise, (kinda like the noise on a turbo of a car). Sometimes, if i wait a while, my hard drive will start working again, some times all i could do is just move the mouse, and other times is when i get the BSOD. any help on why this is happening?
i ve been using this hard drive for about 2 years, and its an ATA Western Seagate

Once you decide which it is go to the relevent manufacturers website and d/load their diagnostic tools.
