hello again I think I posted my question at the wrong spot but anyway got an old quantum fireball for my son's comp and tried formatting it and the disaster when I tried installing xp it says that my hd is missing something like NTLD I don't even know what that means but can someone help please I just want to load it with xp no internet connection on this computer k7sem duron 1200+ pro

1st of all, is this a new hhd(hard drive) ? if it is, then it must be placed on the 1st IDE cable connector, that your old hhd was at.
2nd you must make shure the jumper on the back on the hhd is set to master. and make shure the connections are snug.
then go to bios and make shure, the boot order is:
1st boot CD DRIVE
2ND boot is Floppy drive
3rd boot is hhd (hard drive)
then place the windows CD in the cd drive & boot up, it will formatt it automatically after you make a partition on it...use NTFS for your choice.
