Green dots. GPU issue?

I'm having some sparkling green dots on my monitor screen and I'm not sure if the problem is my desktop or my monitor. I'm pretty sure they're not dead pixels. Could guys tell me what's wrong and how I could fix it?

My rig:
Amd Dual core 3.0 ghz
Ati hd 4830
400w PSU

Im not a master in gpu failure situations so I cant be much help but try testing the monitor with another desktop if you can, and your ram?

how long you had that setup for anyway? but to me it sounds like artifacts due to gpu failure or over heating, you could always run Prime95 to see if it detects any problems but i Think Prime95 is for overclocked

Green dots are a very common problem in failing video cards. I would check for overheating or dust, and if that's not the problem then try a different monitor or a different computer with the same monitor, to see which it is.

I saw this somewhere on OCN, and a fix for it. I will report back if I can find it.

I get something like that whenever there is a lose connection on my DVI cable.
