It's a nice little machine. Amazing speaker. But, even though I've had it for some time now, I've only just considered getting a CD drive for it. I actually have two identical machines, however one's got 128MB of RAM and the other's got 512MB.

Thing is, both of them take laptop style CD drives. Could I just purchase a laptop CD drive on eBay and install it, or would I have to get one specific to the machine? I would be able to use a USB CD drive since both of these machines have USB ports, but what's the point of having an external drive when an internal drive can be installed?

If you need the model of the Compaq, I can give it to you, but since I'm not on the same floor as these machines, I'm not going to bother at the moment because I'm so lazy ;)

EDIT: I just realized that a laptop CD drive generally has different connections which isn't the same as the desktop IDE drives. What are these kinds of drives called, they're like laptop drives but for desktop PC's.
