Re: Good Virus Protection

as raffaz already said, NOD32. It's light on resources and it has a much higher detection rate than mcafee.

i'll be the third to recommend NOD32. I love it. My computer's performance jumped when i took out Norton and put this on.

i'm going to throw this link out there simply because it's a great over-view/review of NOD32. Maybe it'll help you decide.

NOD32. I can get it for free. :)

You could also try the Eset Smart Security Beta. It's a complete suite that includes anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall etc. Kinda like Norton 360 but a lot better. Just ask if interested.

how do you get NOD32 for free?

any estimate on howmuch the security thing would cost?

Re: Good Virus Protection

Well the Smart Security suite is still in beta so it's free obviously. As for when it comes to retail, I have no idea.

If you want NOD32 for free, just PM me. I'm not going to post it in public.

NOD32 is good, but I found ClamWin a much better one for open source. Really good AV.

Theres a crack to allow the trial to run forever, this still isnt the full version tho, there are extra features in the full version.:)

This is a piece of software that i pay for, its cheap to start with at 46 for 3 yrs, well worth the money IMO.

Also worth mentioning that the smart security beta isnt fully functioning so its not protecting you properly. This is taken from eset site "The beta test version is a precursor of the final product without full functionality and documentation"

AVG 7.5 is great, very fast start-up and doesnt take up much memory

Re: Good Virus Protection

I wish I had known about NOD32 before I bought McAfee... of course, in those days I still didn't know anything really about any antivirus suites besides Norton and McAfee, so that is why I bought McAfee! It is the best of that very short list!

If you don't want to pay any money for an Antivirus then Avast and AVG are the two best free ones, but I think it is really worth investing in something better.
