hey I was wondering what a good gaming video card is. Im going to be playing Doom 3 and other high quality games. What video card would be able to play REally well

I have my mind set on 2 video cards which are the Sapphire ATI 9800Pro and the Gainward Nvidia Fx5900.

Any other suggestions? Which one is the better chose

BTW im going to be running a AMD 64 3200++ and 2 512MB DDR400

I would go with the 9800 pro. Its a better card than the FX.

The 9800 pro will be able to play all the games. Well have to see how playable it will be on unreal engine III though.

DOOM 3 is reportedly a 512mb texture game, so no video card now can run the game at its highest setting.

but there are very expence video cards that are $1,000 or more, with 512mb.

Should I go with the 256MB or the 128MB

the 128 MB is 195 and the 256MB is 266

Is it worth the extra money?

You would be paying way too much for that card. Its not even close to being worth that much. You can get a 128mb model which is just as fast for only $194

This one is nicer though for a dollar cheaper.

If you are looking for the nicest card in the 300 range I recommend a 6800.

The MSI one is the nicest of the bunch but whatever.

NO its not worth it for the 256mb model as you can see you can get a faster card that can totally waste it at lower resolutions for only $8 bucks more.

It also has tons more features and better quality rendering.
