getting a Laptop looking for help

O.K... I'm looking for a notebook to have for college and personal use I have looked at E-Machine and threw it out the window. Looked at Toshiba and threw it out. So pretty much the only 2 companies with what I want is HP and Sony. They have close to the same price but HP has a little bit more memory. I need to know the opinions of everyone! Which is better??

have you seen gateway comps? they're really cheap and good. of course, the damage repair/malfunction chart showed gateway to be at highest, so i dunno. how much do you have to spend?

Wait< AMD just came out w/ a new 64-bit moble prosseser, good w/ power?heat, go AMD its called the Turion. But they may not be out for a while nevertheless, go with a 64-bit AMD

I have only about 1900-2000 to spend I dont need it to be AWESOME!! but a nice notebook would be nice i dont mind something besides hp or sony. i have asked some tech-buddies at school and they say hands down that sony is the best that i should get
