Hey. Well im getting a second computer, and need internet for it. I have never had 2 computers, so I dono how this is done. Do I need a router or something? If so, how does it work? Does it make internet slow or not? I really dono anything about router and how good they are... Also, for example when you buy a router, lets say this one: http://www.memoryexpress.com/index....dProductDetail.php&DisplayProductID=5525&SID=
Do you need anything else? Or just the router?

You need a router, and an ethernet cable for your second PC. You hook up the ethernet cable provided with the router to the modem. Then, you take the two other ethernet cables from your PC and hook them up to the router.

I have a DI-524, and personally don't like it because it's very difficult to forward ports with it.

Get this:

Hmm ok. So il pretty much have to drag the wires from one room to the other? Or is there a way to make it work wireless? Cause I dont wana hav wires go through my whole second floor. (1 comp is in bonus room, 1 is in bedroom)

Whats a wireless adapter? Can you link me one? Cause I have no idea with routers. I have always had one computer, so I dono.

I have a belkin wireless N desktop card and I absolutley love it, it never lags in games or anything and its fast plus it has booster built in I belive so it gets good signal upstairs from the first floor, its kinda expensive though $120 for the desktop card and about the same for the wireless router, but the card is compatible with wireless b/g/n and so on...

Well, for wireless, I would suggest getting the combo I have.
Full signal everywhere in my 3200 sq ft home and even a almost full signal in my 1.5acre lot.

For a wireless adapter, get this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833124115

and for a wireless router, this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833124050

I have both of these, very easy to set up since I too didn't have any background or knowledge of networking. Just following the onscreen instructions and the manual, and you'll be up and running in no time. :)

Wouldn't suggest wireless N technology yet, stick with the mature Wireless G technology if you don't want to run into problems.

Hope this helps and good luck

Yea, Kuberr helped me a lot. Im getting Lyncsys router and wireless adapter. So hopefully everything will go good. Thanks everyone for your help.

now if your router is close to one of your computers i would suggest using one of the 4-port switches cause your internet will be WAY faster.

My old computer is in the bonus room, which is where the router is also gona be. My new computer will be in the 3rd bedroom, where the door is always open. I live in a small house, only 1580 sqft, so its like gona be 10 feet or less from the router to the new computer.
