Flatout 2 Graphic Settings

I'm not sure what 'Triple Buffering', or 'Post Processing' means, but here my current settings for Flatout 2:
resolution: 1024x768x32
antistropy: all the way
AA: none
refresh rate: default
triple buffer: checked
post processing: checked
but i noticed with triple buffering and post processing unchecked, the game litterally runs 100% better! i thought those 2 things were supposed to make it look better, but it actually looks better with them unchecked! input plz

whats the objective of the game ne ways?

racing or like crashing kida thing

just do the races/games/derbys. its the BEST racing game i've ever played, and thats almost all i play.
