Hi,

I know this is a stupid question that i should know, but how do i change the filetype? for example, say i have a .dat file which contains the information for a .avi, how do i change the filetype to .avi?
All help is much appreciated,

Thanks,

Edit:
I have, in the 5 minutes since posting this, found my solution. There is a setting in Windows that hides the file assosciation (ie: .exe). Once you change this, it shows the extension. Below is how i did it incase anyone wlse is interested.

Open My Computer
Tools>>Folder Options>>View Tab
In here is a setting which reads "Hide extensions for known file types"
I have unchecked this, and now shows the extension, for example, you have the file named eplorer.exe and you can rename it to explorer.zip (not that it would work very well).
Hope this helps anyone else that had my problem.

Matt
