I have a packard bell desktop that fails to POST.

It was working but crashing frequently.

Main fan spins for about 2 - 3 secs on full and then powers back down.

I get no beeps. or visual aids

I have changed PSU

Chnaged RAM (does the same thing with or wirthout RAM)

Pulled all hardware apart from basics

Reseated CPU

Shorted power on button (incase the button was stuck down)

Removed the whole unit from the case.

It started happening after removing the stick of RAM and reinstalled it

Hi arsenalbates

Think the first thing I would do is test the RAM installed

> Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

I tested the RAM before (as it was acting up) and all come back clear.

Im going to pop the RAM into another mobo in a sec and see if that boots.

OK test done. RAM works fine in other machine.

Take the mobo / ram and CPU out of the case (should be able to stretch the PSU cable and power it on inside your motherboard box on the anti static bag thing it comes in.

See where you get then, it may be shorting out on your case

already tried that buddy.

Im down to mobo or processor.

I dont have a spare 775 processor though.
