External HDD not working...

Okay, I've an 80GB HDD in an external HDD case. It's plugged into my computer and my computer recognizes it, but it doesn't show up in my drive list. Under my hardware manager it claims it's working fine however. Anyone able to give me guidance?

How do I format it if I cannot find it in "my computer"?

Use a boot disk to boot into the DOS command prompt. You should be able to from there.

Ah, I think I got it. It's showing up as a 31.5GB drive... Dont really know why. Maybe that's what it was partitioned as before I put it in. I dont remember what it was at.

None the less, it's formatting now, but the partition is still at 31.5GB.... But it's an 80GB drive. Hmmmph.

Alright, all formatted and in use now, all 31.5GB of the 80GB... Anyone able to help me on this one?

Maybe it's just displaying that much... when in reality it's still 80gb. The discs in a hard drive don't just disappear...

Make sure to delete all the partitions.

Here's what I'm seeing... Keep in mind the highlighted drive should be 80GB (near that)
