Hello everyone, basically I'm saving up for a really nice expensive computer I'll be building myself and I'm wondering what processor I should get. I'm personally leaning towards a AMD 64 X2 6400+ 3.20 GHZ Black Edition, AMD Phenom QuadCore 2.3 GHZ or AMD 64 FX-72

Here is a motherboard I really like and want to get, will it support socket AM2 or AM2+ only?

I'm going to use this computer for programming, gaming and multimedia. It's also going to be my college computer. What would you guys recommend?

I was going to say the same thing , every one . including me, is going to change you mobo to a p35 or x38 chipset and get the 2.4 ghz quad core q6600.with some devecent cooling the Q6600 overclocks to 3.2 (what mines on now) very easly and stably . it will end in a much faster computer this way.

this is much better and not that much more expencive

Not sure, but just incase it helps:

I brought a comptuer with a AMD 64 X2 4600+ yesterday and it works like a charm, and is much faster than a intel near version in my laptop, So I would definately reccomend the AMD X2 one you mentioned.

You can buy a X38 chipset for a alot cheaper that $300, some are available for $215-225. If you want an AMD, then I'd say get the Phenom.
