Couple Basic RAM Questions...

Kind of a newbie when it comes to internals on a computer.
I have a HP Pavillion 305w (I think) and also a IBM. Both desktop PC's and Ive owned both for about 6yrs. So Im happy that they lasted this long lol....

Ive been thinking about adding some RAM, but theres some things I need to know before hand....

1. Any specific brand I should get/avoid?
2. Whats the max my I can install? ( both cpu's are 32bit)

Im sure after these questions get answered ill have some more....Thanks in advance

we can't be sure if you're not sure, they're older systems, so it could take DDR RAM or SD RAM, and as old as they are they may have pretty low limits as to how much each module could be (256MB, 512MB, etc.) and how much total memory can be installed...

So what can I do to find out what kind/type of RAM it takes?
How can I find out how much total memory can be installed?

Download and run CPU Z click the memory tab and it will tell you what type of memory you have.

the only problem with that is he won't know how much the max is for the total system and for each stick, he needs to find a user manual or something...
