Computer unable to run MS updates.

I'm working with a IBM laptop and its been having some problems getting updates. Its been doing this for a while i was told. I attached a screenshot of what it does, and it just stays there. Any suggestions?

Is the Windows an original copy? Also if u have any firewalls make sure they arent blocking the downloads.

Yes its a legit copy of Windows. the laptop is connected through our network here at work. Everyone elses computer has received updates, but this one.

Is ther anything installed on that pc that isnt on the rest? something that may interfer? like i said a firewall just for that pc. Also, is the pc virus and spyware free?

ran ad aware, found nothing. Ran HiJackThis, NOTHING. Tried updates in safe mode, didn't work. Uninstalled IE7, didn't work. Re-registered DLL files, didn't work. Also the user of the computer said that it hasn't been updating since Sept. 2005. Now why does he just now say something about it? I have no clue. Any other ideas?
