Hmm well I have this problem. When I just turn on my computer, it starts up really slow. I mean my P3 started up faster. I dono why. I did virus scans, spybot and ad-aware scans, did defrag, etc. Everything I could think of...yet it still starts up and works really slow for the first 10 minutes. My specs are in my sig. Please help. I dono what to do, its been like this for like 2 month now.

You need to see how many processes your computer is starting up with every time you boot up. See this post and let me know if it helps: http://computerforums.org/showthread.php?t=49873

Quote From the Post:
"Medabomb2000: An easy way to fix your startup is using a program that I really enjoy using. It works with the simple click of a button to turn off or on startup programs. This will normally reduce the processes that start up with the computer which will allow the computer to run at a fast speed using less ram. http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml go there and download the 'Standalone EXE Version.'"

Hmm ok I tried that, but still it starts up slow. Its like my processor begins running slow, but than speeds up later. Maybe its something to do with AMD Cool & Quiet technology?

AMD Cool and Quiet Technology is the hardware within the computer. It makes sure that your CPU doesn't overheat and runs at a low quiet sound so your computer isn't loud as well. What is really sounds like is software (normally slowing of computer operation is caused by software not hardware). Do me a favor: restart your computer, and do a ctrl+alt+del. Look to see how many processes are running when you first start your computer and get back on here and give me that number. And if I see that it is not the processes, I'll research more and talk to some people.

You did a few of these things but not all of them

Routine System Optimization (by LambofGod)

1. All Driver updates (examples www.ati.com , www.asus.com )

2. Windows Updates ( www.windowsupdate.com )

3. Full anitvirus scans with a program such as

AVG antivirus
http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10596553.html?tag=pop.software

4. Full spyware scans w/ 2 diff spyware programs such as

Ad-aware

Spybot

Windows Defender

5. Msconfig the startup (go to start, run, type *msconfig* go to the startup tab)

Now disable all the services that you do not NEED to have running. For example Adobe speed launch ect…..

You can also go to the tab services, then check the box *hide all Microsoft services*
And disable service there that you do not need

(this will not get rid of the programs, just stop them from starting up)

6. Disk cleanup

Go to Start, programs, accessories, system tools, disk cleanup.

Select the drive you want to clean.

After it scans the drive select all the boxes you want to clean files out of.

(usually all of them)

Click ok.

7. Check disk

Go to start, run, type “cmd”, make sure you are on your root drive (usually C:\), type “chkdsk /f”, type “Y” .

Then restart your system

*if you are not on your root drive type “cd C:\ “ assuming C:\ = your root drive*

8. disk defragmenter

Go to start, programs, accessories, system tools, disk defragmentor.

Select the drive you want to defrag and press “defrag”

(this may take a while)

Hmm well I have 29 processes running when I start it up. Thats after I removed xfire and bitcomet from system start up. I still have msn on start up, but il leave it there cause i always forget to turn it on. Its a bit faster now, but now fully. It used to be really fast a few months ago, ever with bitcomet and xfire on start up.

did you follow every step in my post?

To me, you need a Defrag. It's very important to keep the files orgaised on the disk.

I already did everything. Its not only when I log into my user, its just when my windows starts in general. Like it will lag to even select which user I wana log into to. Its fricken weird. Im just going to reformat my drives and install a clean version.
